Dr. Hong-Seop Kho graduated from Seoul National University School of Dentistry and received a Ph.D. from the same university. He did residentship and fellowship in the field of Oral Medicine at Seoul National University Dental Hospital. He has been doing his professorship at Seoul National University School of Dentistry since 1998 after 2 year Post-doc at SUNY at Buffalo Department of Oral Biology. He is actively working in the school and dental hospital as educator, researcher, and clinician. His specialty is Oral Medicine which comprises oral mucous membrane diseases, orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorders (TMD), and salivary gland and chemosensory disorders. His research deals with Saliva and Geriatric Oral Medicine, focusing on discovering innovative ways to evaluate, prevent, and manage the geriatric oral and maxillofacial functional disorders such as salivary gland dysfunction (dry mouth), oral mucosal pain disorder (burning mouth syndrome), taste disorder (taste disturbance), oromandibular movement disorder (oromandibular dyskinesia), and swallowing disorder (dysphagia). He is also interested in saliva-based diagnostics and standardization of the diagnostic procedures using saliva samples.
